Hyphenation

I developed hyphenation patterns for Czech and Slovak, the default in every Android device.

My thesis achieved a 50% reduction in incorrect hyphenations for Ukrainian compared to existing patterns. The methodology is machine learning: transfer learning across Slavic languages, using the International Phonetic Alphabet as an intermediate representation and Bayesian optimization for parameter tuning.

Connected the team behind Organic Maps

After the beloved OpenStreetMap-based app MAPS.ME got bought and replaced the map data with inferior HERE maps, stripping the open-source app of its differentiating features for commercial reasons, I put out a call to action to take the open GPL source code and pick up the development and maintenance of the app.

The blogpost eventually led to a team, which included some of the former creators of MAPS.ME, forming and going on to create Organic Maps, the spiritual successor of MAPS.ME and the most detailed navigation app available.

ipfsearch

I built ipfsearch, a distributed search engine with an IPFS-backed inverted index.

It served roughly 100K monthly active users on about $10/month of infrastructure.

Owned the Starknet integration end-to-end in the progressive Bitcoin wallet. Shipped across mobile, browser extension, and backend in under five months — having never worked with JavaScript professionally before. Coordinated cross-squad engineering and served as the technical point of contact for a $1M ecosystem partnership.

Co-founded from the pre-funding stage. Built the smart contracts for the Carmine Options AMM and led technical development of the DAO toolkit Konoha.
